Fenton, L. & Ravn, S. (2021) ‘Working creatively with biographies and life histories’. In: Creative Methods for Human Geographers, eds. Von Benzon, N., Holton, M., Wilkinson, C. and Wilkinson, S. London: Sage.
This chapter introduces how creative methods can be used in conjunction with biographical or life history interviews in research within human geography. Biographical and life history methods offer exciting opportunities to generate data on how lives are situated and unfold in and across place and space. This chapter demonstrates how creative representations of life histories can be useful in human geography research and can bring about new aspects of individuals’ stories. Creative approaches are productive in crafting an understanding of lived relationships to place, space and social change.
